Children & Play Therapy
Sheela came to this work with intention. As a Marriage and Family Therapist-Associate, she holds space for individuals navigating life on their own terms, couples learning how to really hear each other, and children who need a different kind of language altogether. Her path into therapy wasn’t about finding a job — she came to it because she wanted to be genuinely useful to people in the moments that matter most.
How Sheela Works
There’s no clipboard of answers Sheela brings into a session. Her approach is relational, collaborative, and grounded in the belief that you already carry more insight than you might realize. Her job is to help you access it. She creates space that feels safe enough to be honest in, and works alongside you to untangle patterns, identify what’s getting in the way, and build something more intentional in its place.
It looks like slowing down when something important surfaces. It looks like remembering what you said two sessions ago. It looks like following your lead, even when the work is hard. Real change requires trust, and trust has to be earned.
Working with Children: Play Therapy
Kids don’t always have the words. But give a child a sandtray, a puppet, or a paintbrush, and you’d be amazed what comes through. Play therapy works because it meets children exactly where they are — in the language they already speak.
Sheela works with children using play therapy to help them process experiences that feel too big or too confusing to talk about directly. She is actively engaged in ongoing play therapy training and supervision, because she believes showing up well for kids means continuing to grow as a clinician. Through the safety of play, kids can express what they’re carrying, develop coping skills, and begin to feel more in control of their inner world.
And because children don’t exist in isolation, Sheela stays closely connected with parents throughout the process — sharing guidance, celebrating progress, and helping families build stronger connections at home.
Working with Individuals and Couples
Whether you’re sorting through a life transition, trying to reconnect with a partner, managing anxiety, or simply feeling stuck — this is a place to work through it without judgment.
Sheela’s approach with adults and couples focuses on understanding how past experiences quietly shape present behavior, and figuring out how to write a different story going forward. For couples, that means learning to argue less and understand each other more. Often the distance between two people is smaller than it feels. For individuals, it means untangling the noise and getting reacquainted with who you are and what you actually want.
Outside the Office
Outside of work, Sheela is a wife and mom. She and her husband stay plenty busy keeping up with their son — which she’ll tell you is its own kind of adventure. Family time matters deeply to her, and she genuinely loves the everyday life they’ve built together.
When she’s not in session, you’ll find her playing video games, getting lost in a good book, making art, or out on her bike. These are the things that help her recharge and show up fully for the people she works with.
