In person and telehealth sessions available

Amy R. Dean, LMFT-S is a therapist who specializes in working with children, teens and young adults. She maintains a private group practice in Montgomery, Texas. Among her areas of expertise are family therapy, child and adolescent therapy, grief and loss, suicidal ideations and self-injury, culture shock, Third Culture Kids (TCK), and repatriation issues.

In addition to being a therapist, Amy Dean has spent many years living outside the U.S. in the Caribbean, South America, Central Asia, South Asia and Southeast Asia. She raised her son, a TCK, while navigating many cultures, many customs, as a trailing spouse. During her experiences overseas, she discovered some of the pitfalls that expats experience when moving countries and cultures and when returning home. She has developed an understanding of these issues and has attended workshops on the challenges of being a part of this population.

Amy Dean is a humanistic therapist who believes that at any given time, we all are doing the best we can. We may just need a little help. Her therapeutic approach is to provide support and practical feedback to help clients effectively address personal life challenges. She integrates complementary methodologies and techniques to offer a highly personalized approach tailored to each client. With compassion and understanding, she works with each individual, teen or family to help them build on their strengths and attain the personal growth they are committed to accomplishing.
