As a Licensed Professional Counselor, Jenny believes that she has a unique opportunity to grow with her clients as they go through the therapeutic journey together. She considers herself a life-long learner and places a high value on the use of evidence-based practices during counseling sessions. In addition to implementing tried-and-true counseling theories and tools, she is also a person-centered and strengths-based counselor who thinks outside the box to adapt to her client’s preferences and needs. This flexibility combined with evidence-based practices allows her to provide effective yet creative treatment making the counseling experience practical and fun.
Jenny received her bachelor’s degree in American Sign Language-English Interpreting and Deaf Studies from Maryville College in eastern Tennessee, and her master’s degree in Professional Counseling with a specialization in Rehabilitation Counseling from Stephen F. Austin State University. After graduating from her master’s program, she has worked with individuals with a variety of disabilities, ages, socioeconomic status, and backgrounds. She has worked with adults, adolescents, children, couples, and families with experience in grief counseling, adjustment to disability, serious mental illness, social issues, vocational issues, learning disabilities, acquired brain injuries, anxiety, depression, communication issues, end-of-life counseling, and life-stage transition issues. In addition to her work as an LPC, she has also worked as a certified sign language interpreter in the state of Texas; and is a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor. Each of these credentials has provided her with a unique vantage point from which to view individuals that she encounters and allows her to provide a more holistic counseling approach.
Jenny provides telehealth sessions for her clients in Texas.
When not at work, Jenny enjoys spending as much time outdoors as possible, camping, hiking, running, or biking. She also enjoys crafting, reading, listening to new music, and a good Netflix series.
