Shayla is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. She is a compassionate and versatile therapist with a strong belief in the power of therapeutic relationships. Her integrative approach to therapy, drawing from various therapeutic styles, she tailors her methods to meet the specific needs of each client. This flexibility is valuable in addressing a wide range of issues such as anxiety, depression, mood disorders, personality disorders, marital conflicts, and phase of life adjustments.
Shayla’s emphasis on creating a safe and non-judgmental space aligns well with person-centered and narrative therapy principles, which prioritize empathy and authenticity in the therapeutic relationship. She feels that learning coping skills, communication skills, emotional regulation skills can empower a person and allow clarity in their life. Shayla believes that humans are social beings, which is why it is important to take time to understand how family, romantic relationships, friends and communities impact mental health. The role played in each of these dynamics can strongly impact an individual or couple.
Shayla has experience working in a community agency where she saw couples, teens, individuals, and families. During her experience, Shayla worked with anxiety, depression, marital conflict, communication issues, phase of life adjustments and much more. Shayla is excited to combine her clinical knowledge with a warm, personable approach to support her clients healing and growth journey. She brings her unique approach to Lake Conroe Counseling Center to work with teens, individuals, and couples.
When Shayla is not working, she enjoys spending time with her very large dog, family, and friends. Shayla loves a good book or a binge-worthy series on tv.
