Shayla Schmidt, M.A., LPC, LMFT, NCC


Shayla is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. She believes that individuals can heal and grow best when aided by a strong therapeutic relationship. She believes a strong therapeutic relationship is built on genuineness, non-judgment, empathy, and a safe space. Taking an integrative approach to therapy, Shayla uses many styles, including Person-Centered Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Gestalt Therapy, EFT, and Gottman Couples Therapy to fit the unique needs of each client.

Shayla graduated from Sam Houston State University with her Master’s in Counseling, with a concentration in Marriage and Family Therapy, and has ties to this community. She has experience working in a community agency where she saw couples, teens, individuals, and families. During her experience, Shayla worked with anxiety, depression, marital conflict, communication issues, phase of life adjustments and much more.

Shayla is excited to work with teens, individuals, couples, and families at Lake Conroe Counseling Center and bring her unique approach to helping the people of Montgomery, TX and surrounding areas.

When Shayla is not working, she enjoys spending time with her very large dog, family, and friends. Shayla loves a good book or a binge-worthy series on tv.
